The name ‘Berwick 1707’ honors the historic victory of the Bourbon army in 1707, led by the Duke of Berwick at the Battle of Almansa. This triumph opened the gates to the Kingdom of Valencia and cemented Almansa’s place in history. While the brand was established later, Berwick 1707 remains a pinnacle of Spanish pride, dedicated to crafting footwear of exceptional quality.

Goodyear Welt, Made Entirely in Almansa

Almansa is a town with a deep-rooted history in shoemaking, and every pair of Berwick 1707 is produced here. Utilizing the Goodyear Welt process, each shoe undergoes approximately 200 manual operations within our own factory. This vertical integration allows for strict quality control at every stage.

The Goodyear Welt technique, patented by Charles Goodyear Jr. in 1871, is the gold standard of shoe construction. Renowned for its extreme durability and ease of repair, the welt allows a cobbler to remove and replace the sole multiple times without damaging the upper leather. With proper care, a pair of Berwicks can be resoled 5 to 10 times, making them a lifelong companion for the modern gentleman.
